Rent Reminder & Renewal FAQ
What should a rent reminder letter include?
The property address, the rent amount, the due date it was missed, and how to pay - plus a tone that assumes an oversight rather than refusal on the first reminder. Most late rent is disorganization, not dispute; a plain, specific reminder resolves most of them.
How much notice should a renewal notice give?
This tool suggests asking for a response within 14 days, but check your lease and local tenancy law - many jurisdictions set minimum notice periods for renewal or non-renewal, and getting it wrong can delay a legitimate move-out. When in doubt, give more notice than the minimum; it costs nothing and avoids disputes.
Can I raise the rent in a renewal notice?
Generally yes, subject to your lease terms and any local rent-control rules - state the new figure plainly rather than implying it. Tenants who feel ambushed by a rent increase are far more likely to dispute or vacate than those given a clear number with time to plan.
What if the tenant doesn't respond to the renewal notice?
Follow up once by phone or a second written notice before assuming they're vacating - people miss letters. If the lease end date arrives with no response and no rent, that's when you move to formal notice-to-vacate procedures under your local law, which this tool doesn't cover.
How is this different from a Growpins Ledger account?
This writes one letter. A free Growpins Ledger account tracks every tenant as a client with their rent invoiced and receipted, so you always know who's paid, who's late, and whose lease is coming up for renewal.
Never lose track of a due date again
Growpins Ledger tracks every tenant as a client with rent invoiced and receipted, so you see who's late and whose lease is coming up before it becomes a scramble. Built by the team behind Growpins, founded by Dokun Bamigboye. Free tier, no card required.
